Don’t let them suffer!

Don’t let them suffer!

The crying on the phone,
The bruises on the arm.
No one hears his screams,
No one raises alarm.

He was beaten by his girl,
Her rages grew so fast.
How long could he survive,
If this lockdown did last.

She hated how she went mad,
Hated how she behaved.
She feared for where he’d end up,
And decided she must be brave.

She rang a number for the police,
Sobbing she asked for help.
They came to give her support,
No longer would he yelp.

Somewhere not so far away,
A girl hid in her room.
She sobbed and wept in despair,
For the man who was her groom.

He started of so lovely,
But life had worn him down,
She feared where she would end,
If she stayed around.

When he went for his daily run,
She fled through the door.
When he returned he found a note,
They weren’t together anymore.

Life can be difficult at times,
Now more than ever.
If you start that slippery slope,
Suffering will last forever.

You are not a victim,
Weakness in you had no home.
Sometimes we need to sacrifice,
To ensure all’s safe at home.

Don’t let yourself fall victim,
Don’t let yourself be prey.
Reach out to someone close,
Start to get away.

It need not be forever,
Love can help you through.
Take away the dangerous risk,
Then do what you need to do.
